Sheree Rayford, Artist + Photographer
Since relocating to Fairfield, CA, in early 2021, Sheree has taken the leap in pursuing her passions as a full-time artist and photographer. She's had the opportunity to connect with several community organizations and contribute to local events as a vendor, event photographer and volunteer. She's a mentor with the Fairfield PAL Teen Center working with at-risk teens in the Fairfield area and also an active member of the Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association and the Fairfield Suisun Chamber of Commerce. These platforms allow her to serve her community alongside local leaders and elected officials.
As a resident of Fairfield, Sheree has a vested interest in seeing her community succeed and thrive. As a Black woman, wife and mother of three children in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, she believes it is vital that her children grow up in a community where their experiences are heard and seen. Sheree sees her artistic work as a vehicle to express ideas and themes around socio-economic disparity, intersectionality, and sexual and gender expression; seeking to let art amplify the voices of under-represented groups. Her most recent exhibit, “Broken Patterns”, consisted of photographs that challenged our ignorance to everyday injustice through patterns seen on the streets of San Francisco.
